PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of improving driving feeling of a driver by changing an acceleration/deceleration characteristic of a vehicle through auto matic control when a positional relation between a preceding vehicle and one's own vehicle is transitionally changed during automatic follow-up driving after the preceding vehicle. SOLUTION: Driving environment/driving state when the positional relation between the preceding vehicle and the own vehicle is transitionally changed during automatic follow-up driving after the preceding vehicle, and brake and accelerator manipulation made by the driver at the change are stored, the acceleration/deceleration characteristic of the vehicle is changed based on the manipulation and when a similar transitional change occurs in the positional relation between the preceding vehicle and the own vehicle after that, driving feeling of the driver to the acceleration/deceleration characteristic is improved.
