PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive and highly reliable splicing structure of an optical module by reducing size of an element used by the splicing structure for an in-line type optical module with a filter function and making the structure a hermetically sealed. SOLUTION: The optical module is structured by placing a pair of optical fiber end faces with lens functions opposite to each other across a holding plate and by holding an optical element thinner than the holding plate on the holding plate.
