PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound having an action to inhibit the bonding of a synovial cell to collagen and an action to suppress the formation of cytokine. SOLUTION: The imidazole derivative is expressed by general formula (I) (R<1> is a (substituted)aryl; R<2> and R<3> are each H, a (substituted) (hetero)arylaryl or R<2> and R<3> together form a (substituted) (hetero)arylaryl; and R<4> is a (substituted) (hetero)arylaryl), its pharmacologically permissible salt, ester or other derivative.
