PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a slider housed between a lower rail and an upper rail from dropping and improve the assembly workability and slide operation of a seat slide device. SOLUTION: The slider 40 is provided with an engaging hook 42 at its lower edge and the hook 42 is engaged with a projection provided to a lower edge of the slider receiving part 32 of the upper rail 30 to prevent the dropping of the slider 40 housed between a slider receiving part 23 arranged on an inner wall of a base part of the flange 22 of the lower rail 20 and a slider receiving part 32 formed by notching on both shoulders of a body part 31 of the upper rail 30. The slider 40 is restricted displacement thereof against the upper rail 30 in the longitudinal, vertical and lateral directions and the retention of the slider 40 is secured.
