Glucoside and glucuronide derivatives ofhydromorphone, dihydromorphine, and dihydroisomorphine and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof; pharmaceutical compositions comprising a glucoside or glucuronide derivative ofhydromorphone, dihydromorphine, or dihydroisomorphine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof; and methods for treating or preventing pain in a patient comprising administering to a patient in need thereof a glucoside or glucuronide derivative ofhydromorphone, dihydromorphine, or dihydroisomorphine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof are disclosed.
