PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermally developable photosensitive material giving a high contrast image of high maximum density with a slight change in image line width and little unevenness in density even by development in a humid environment. SOLUTION: In the thermally developable photosensitive material containing at least an organic silver salt, photosensitive silver halide, a reducer, a contrast enhancer and a binder on a support and having at least one imaging layer and at least one non-photosensitive layer situated remoter from the support than the imaging layer, at least one layer formed by applying a coating liquid containing >=30 mass% organic solvent is present on the imaging layer side and the amount of the residual organic solvent in thermal development is 5-150 mg/m<2> .
