The actuator (1) has a cylindrical housing enclosing a hollow space containing a sliding piston (8) with an attached piston rod (9), displaced by the gas released by detonation of a detonator (6). The housing is divided longitudinally, with at least one retaining element, e.g. a sleeve (4), holding the housing parts (2,3) together.
