PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a black matrix which has the same potential as that of a counter electrode from corroding even in a high-humidity environment and to obtain a sufficient shading effect. SOLUTION: The black matrix 33 has a square frame-shaped part 33b provided in an area overlapping with the inner circumferential side of a seal material 23 from the circumference of a display area 25. A square-frame type shading film 34 formed of the same shading metal as the black matrix 33 is provided from a position a little distant from the outer circumferential surface of the frame-shaped part 33b to the vicinity of the end surface of an opposite substrate 22. The frame-shaped part 33b of the black matrix 33 is therefore isolated from the shading film 34 and made not to corrode even in high-humidity environment. The square-frame type shading film 34 makes it possible to obtain the shading effect outside the frame-shaped part 33b of the black matrix 33. |
