PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a falling film type absorber capable of securing the capacity of the same without deteriorating the absorbing capacity even when the length of the absorber is elongated. SOLUTION: Absorbing solution 21 flows down along the inner wall of a heat transfer tube 3 while absorbing refrigerant vapor, is dammed up by a dam 5, and is reserved into a liquid storage unit 9. The gradients of temperature and concentration are generated in an interface between gas and liquid as well as a heat transfer surface in the absorbing solution immediately before flowing into the liquid storage unit 9. However, the temperature and the concentration are unified by mixing in the liquid storage unit 9. When the amount of the absorbing solution reserved in the liquid storage unit 9 has increased mare than a given amount, the absorbing solution flows again out of an outflow port 8 by the effect of a minute liquid column pressure difference. The temperature and the concentration of the outflow absorbing solution are unified. The absorbing solution flows down again along the inner wall of the absorbing tube 1 while absorbing the refrigerant vapor and arrives at the lowermost part P3, then, is further collected into a lower header, not shown in a diagram.
