<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a knee protecting air bag system improvable in mounting freedom to a vehicle while being able to absorb the kinetic energy of the knees even in the case of failing to stop the kinetic energy by an air bag. SOLUTION: In this knee protecting air bag system S, an air bag module SA is provided with an air bag 46, an inflator 41, a case 23 and an air bag cover 30. A plate member 16 provided with a plate part 17 extending from the periphery of a case opening 23a so as to be arranged on the vehicle front side in a region of the air bag at the completion of expansion, and a mounting part 22 mountable to a vehicle body, is disposed in the air bag system, and the plate member 16 absorbs the kinetic energy of the knees by deforming the plate part 17 when the knees apply kinetic energy E of a specified value or more to the air bag 46.</p> |
