PURPOSE: A method is provided which manufactures Zn2SiO4 powder having a narrow particle size distribution by calcining the synthesized powder at a temperature lower than existing solid phase synthesis after synthesizing an intermediate phase Zn4Si2O7(OH)2·H2O powder through hydrothermal technique. CONSTITUTION: The method of low temperature synthesis of Zn2SiO4 powder having a narrow particle size distribution via hydrothermal technique comprises steps of (a) preparing a raw material mixture a particle size of which is controlled by mixing and milling the raw materials after adding raw materials ZnO and SiO2 to distilled water in a mole ratio of 3:1 to 2:1; (b) synthesizing intermediate phase Zn4Si2O7(OH)2·H2O powder by hydrothermal synthesizing the raw material mixture of the step (a) at a temperature of 100 to 400 deg.C; and (c) preparing Zn2SiO4 powder by heat-treating the Zn4Si2O7(OH)2·H2O powder synthesized in the step (b) at a temperature of 600 to 1200 deg.C, wherein the raw materials of the step (a) are selected from oxides, hydroxides, chlorides, nitrates and acetates, the hydrothermal synthesis of the step (b) is performed by adding acid such as hydrochloric acid, nitric acid and acetic acid or base such as potassium hydroxide and ammonium hydroxide as a mineralizing agent, the hydrothermal synthesis of the step (b) is performed under self-pressure to 200 MPa, temperature of the heat treatment of the step (c) is 700 to 900 deg.C, and the heat treatment of the step (c) is performed at an atmosphere of air, nitrogen, argon or oxygen.
