ODOR CONTROL APPARATUS AND METHOD USING VERMICULITE

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for odor control using vermiculite are provided, wherein vermiculite is used as adsorbent and it is recycled as moisture controller in composting. CONSTITUTION: The odor control apparatus is comprised of an absorption tower(1), a gas inlet(2) provided to a side of the absorption tower, a prefilter provided in the absorption tower, an absorption layer provided in the absorption tower, a stack(7), a slide gate, a top door, and a gas exhaust fan(3). The method using the apparatus includes the steps of introducing odor gas to the absorption tower through the gas inlet; removing dust and moisture from the odor gas by the prefilter; removing and absorbing odor substance from the odor gas by the absorption layer which is a vermiculate filled layer; and discharging treated gas to the air through the stack by the gas exhaust fan, wherein the vermiculate is exfoliated and expanded by being heated at a temperature of 950 to 110°C and dried for 1 hour before being provided in the absorption tower.
