HEAD PART IDENTIFICATION APPARATUS FOR SUGAR CANE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head part identification apparatus for sugar cane rapidly and accurately separating and removing a head part of a sugar cane after reaping by a harvester. SOLUTION: This head part identification apparatus separates a stem part of the sugar cane, a raw material for sugar production and the head part of the sugar cane that inhibits crystallization of cane sugar and reduces efficiency of sugar production. In the apparatus the head part of the sugar cane 1 is irradiated with a laser beam from a laser source 3, the rear reflection is detected by an optical sensor 7 and the stem part and the head part are discriminated based on a light receiving pattern obtained by a signal processing section 9.
