PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new epoxy resin which can form an environment-friendly epoxy resin material capable of imparting excellent flame retardant property without containing any halogen compound, an epoxy resin composition containing the same and its cured product. SOLUTION: The epoxy resin is represented by formula (1) (wherein R0 to R3 may be identical or different each other and each represents hydrogen, a 1-10C alkyl, a 5C or 6C cycloalkyl or phenyl and at least one of R1 to R3 is methyl, phenyl, phenyl-containing alkyl, and Ar represents hydrocarbon group containing an aromatic skeleton), and the flame retardant epoxy resin composition containing the epoxy resin and a curing agent as essential components is provided.
