New nucleic acids encoding F-box proteins, useful e.g. for treatment of cancer or inflammation, also new proteins, antibodies and modulators

Nucleic acid (I) that encodes any of 17 F-box protein sequences (II), reproduced, or a fragment or variant of (II), is new. Independent claims are also included for: (1) recombinant vector containing (I); (2) recombinant host cell transformed or transfected with (I) or the vector of (1); (3) (II), or their fragments or variants, optionally fused to a heterologous polypeptide, encoded by (I); (4) method of screening for compounds that bind to F-box polypeptides; (5) method of screening for compounds that modulate interaction between F-box polypeptide and proteins of the SCF complex; (6) antibodies (Ab) directed against (II); and (7) nucleic acid primers and probes that hybridize to (I).
