PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To supress the generation of cavitation while keeping the pumping performance in a rotary pump. SOLUTION: The generation of cavitation can be supressed by increasing the allowance in the lowering of the fluid pressure by lowering a saturated vapor pressure of the fluid by lowering a temperature of the fluid flowing into the pump by heat exchanging with the fluid flowing into the pump by utilizing a low-temperature source existing in a pump system. In a case of a liquid rocket engine, another propellant B of a temperature lower than that of one propellant A or a coolant can be applied as a low temperature heat source. The propellant B is allowed to pass through a heat exchanger 2 by the pump 4 for the heat exchange with the propellant A from the tank 3, whereby the fluid temperature is lowered. As a fluid speed of the propellant A at inflow is low, the pressure loss in the heat exchanger 2 is small. As a result, the temperature of the propellant A is lowered, and the generation of cavitation in the pump 1 can be supressed.
