PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To overcome the problem such that a conventional method using a fuse is inadequate for an X-by-wire system in the automobile industry. SOLUTION: A protection apparatus 10 for a power supply is provided with a current detecting apparatus 12 provided between a supply input 16 and a supply output 18 to be protected and detecting a current in at least one power supply line 14, a fault analyzing module 20 connected to the current detecting apparatus 12, a protection planning controller 22 connected to the fault analyzing module 20 and preferable to function based on a presettable protecting algorithm for controlling a protecting switch 26 related to the power supply line 14, and/or a current limiting apparatus 28 related to the power supply line 14 by depending on an output signal from the fault analyzing module 20 and/or at least one of other input value. |
