PURPOSE: A device for reducing the return noise of a pinion for a starting motor is provided to reduce the noise and vibration by reducing the rotary speed of the pinion when the pinion is returned. CONSTITUTION: An armature and a field unit are installed in a housing having a magnetic switch. A shift lever(6) and a plunger are installed at the magnetic switch. An over-running clutch(7) and a pinion gear(8) are slid according to the rotation of the shift lever. A damper(10) is installed at a stopper(9) in the rear of the over-running clutch. A contact protrusion(11) in the shift lever is contacted with the damper.
