It has been impossible to carry recorded video and audio in a low−capacity memory medium and view it outdoors.A recording/reproducing apparatus includes compressed stream generation means(4)for generating a first bit stream(1)and a second bit stream(2)having a bit rate smaller than the bit rate of the first bit stream by using a video signal input from outside,recording/modulation means(14)for recording the generated first bit stream and the generated second bit stream on a predetermined medium,a first digital interface(21)for outputting the recorded first bit stream,and a second digital interface(22)for outputting the recorded second bit stream,the second digital interface having an interface to which a predetermined small−size memory device can be connected.
