PURPOSE: A mobile device capable of deleting and restoring a file and method for deleting and restoring the file are provided to make not only a deletion of a file but a restoration of a deleted file possible. CONSTITUTION: In a mobile device capable of reproducing and recording data with respect to a recording medium, an engine unit(120) may access to the recording medium for reading and recording the data. An input unit(148) is provided for inputting a command of a user with respect to a file recorded in the recording medium. A memory(143) is provided for storing attribute information with respect to a deletion requested file. If a deletion command with respect to a file recorded in the recording medium is inputted through the input unit(148), a control unit(141) maintains a deletion requested file as a recorded state and transmits attribute information including record root information of the deletion requested file to the memory(143) and stores the attribute information. If a restoration command with respect to the deletion requested file is inputted through the input unit(148), the control unit(141) controls the engine unit(120) and the memory(143) for making the attribute information stored in the memory(143) be restored in the recording medium.
