PURPOSE: A method for retrieving a menu in a cellular phone is provided to easily retrieve a desired menu in a complex menu structure within a short time by retrieving a menu identical to an inputted keyword or a menu including the inputted keyword and displaying the retrieved menu as a tree structure from the highest menu of the retrieved menu to the retrieved menu. CONSTITUTION: If a user inputs the entire menu title or a part of letter or number(402), it is judged whether the inputted keyword is a conventionally retrieved keyword. If the inputted keyword is the conventionally retrieved keyword, the inputted keyword is retrieved from a retrieval result storing menu(406). If the inputted keyword does not exist in the retrieval result storing menu, all menus are retrieved(408). The retrieved results are stored in the retrieval result storing menu(410). A number is added to each menu from the highest menu of the retrieved menu to the retrieved menu, and the retrieve menu is displayed as a tree structure(412). It is judged whether the user inputs a directional key or a numerical key(414). If the user moves a cursor using the directional key, the cursor is moved to a corresponding direction for indicating the corresponding menu(416). If the corresponding menu is selected, the corresponding function of the selected menu is executed(422). If the user inputs the numerical key, a menu to which a number corresponding to the inputted numerical key is added is selected(420). The corresponding function of the selected menu is executed(422).
