PURPOSE: A printing system and method is provided to enable a user to automatically print data with a printer connected over an LAN(Local Area Network) and a WAN(Wide Area Network). CONSTITUTION: The system comprises a main frame server(100), hubs(22, 23, 25), a router(24), and a plurality of printers(40). The main frame server(100) includes a spooler(16), a controller(120), a data processor(140), and a network interface(130). The data in the spooler(16) is read, being converted according to a specification of a printer(40) by the data processor(140), and being output to the printer connected to an LAN or a WAN by using the network interface(130) like a TCP/IP. The controller(120) controls an overall operation of components according to IO signals, retransmits the output data to the printer(40) if necessary, and displays a message of " impossible to print" on a user terminal if it is impossible to print the data. The data processor(140) includes a data convertor(142) and a task separator insertion module(144). The data converter(142) converts the output data into data type for a corresponding printer. The task separator insertion module(144) inserts a task separator into a proper position in each output data file in a case that a plurality of output data files exist in the spooler(16).
