PURPOSE: A servo control apparatus and method of an optical recording/playing system are provided to minimize influence of decentering to perform stable track jump. CONSTITUTION: A servo control apparatus of an optical recording/playing system includes a tracking error detector(310), a microprocessor(320), an actuator position detector(330), and a track jump driving signal unit(340). The tracking error detector detects a tracking error signal. The microprocessor receives a track jump command message to confirm the movement direction of a pick-up(300) to another track and the number of tracks to be jumped. The actuator position detector analyzes the tracking error signal detected by the tracking error detector to confirm the decentering direction of an actuator. The track jump driving signal unit accepts information about the movement direction of the pick-up, information on the number of tracks to be jumped and information on a track tracking path of the actuator from the microprocessor and the actuator position detector, and analyzes the information to transmit a predetermined jump pulse signal to the pick-up when a relative speed is minimum, thereby determining the track jump time.
