<p>The invention relates to a flexible film comprising a flexible substrate and a coating, whereby the coating is made from a composition comprising liquid crystalline monomers. The invention also relates to a process for making a flexible film having improved barrier properties whereby a flexible substrate is coated with a polyimide layer, the layer is rubbed so as to produce uniformly tilted alignment in a desired azimuthal orientation, a film of composition containing liquid crystalline monomers is applied onto the rubbed polyimide layer, the required liquid crystalline phase is obtained by adjusting the temperature and the composition is cured. Also use of the flexible film as barrier material is claimed.</p> |
