PURPOSE: An apparatus for inputting data by one key and a portable terminal adapting the same are provided to minimize an area that a key occupies at a main body of the portable terminal and expand an LCD accordingly. CONSTITUTION: A recess(100b) is formed at a predetermined position on a main body of a portable terminal. A center key(133) is arranged on the recess(100b) to move from a center to upper and lower direction, from the center to radial direction, and from the center to outer peripheral direction. A guide member(135) is combined with the center key(133) to move with the center key(133), and generates a signal of selected data. A vertical moving conductive member(136) is arranged closely to the lower part of the guide member(135) to move slidably. The first elastic body(139) is arranged toward the lower part of the vertical moving conductive member to provide force making the vertical moving conductive member close to the guide member. A base(132) supports the first elastic body(139) and the guide member(135), and transmits the generated signal to a main printed circuit board(15).
