PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas cleaning catalyst having sufficient cleaning performance even at a high temperature and a method of manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the exhaust gas cleaning catalyst comprises the step of manufacturing a suspension by adding a carrier material of a high specific surface area subjected to thermal stabilization to an aqueous solution containing cerium, zirconium and iron salt, the step of forming coprecipitate which is the hydroxide of the cerium, zirconium and iron by adding an alkaline solution to the suspension, the step of manufacturing a material for wash coat by drying and firing the coprecipitate, a step of slurrying the material for wash coat and forming the wash coat on the carrier 15 and the step of depositing a noble metal 17 on the wash coated carrier 15. This exhaust gas cleaning catalyst is manufactured by such method. |
