The method and equipment are for moving chicken in a processing plant and involve a drum-shaped component (1) rotatable around its longitudinal axis, the chicken being fed in at the open input (3) end of the drum-shaped component located higher than the output end (4). With the movement of the chicken through the drum-shaped component the legs are gripped by a support component which rotates with the drum. In the movement direction of the chicken an air current acts on them near the output end of the drum-shaped component. Inside the drum-shaped component is at least one spirally running rib. The output end of the drum-shaped component is located in an input end of a further such component (5). The diameter of the drum-shaped component gradually reduces from the input end to the output end.
