Plate glass etching method, using cascade or curtain of acid applied to upper side of glass with adhesive sheet on its lower side and adhesive tape around its periphery

An acid resistant adhesive plastic sheet is applied to the lower side of the glass and an acid resistant adhesive tape is applied around the glass periphery so that acid added in the form of a cascade and/or curtain to this upper side is retained by the adhesive tape, which protrudes above the upper side. A method for etching plate glass comprises the following steps : (a) laying the glass horizontally; (b) cleaning the glass using distilled water and brushing, followed by drying using compressed air jets; (c) applying an acid resistant adhesive plastic sheet to the lower side of the glass; (d) fixing the adhesive sheet in place by applying acid resistant adhesive tape to the edges of the glass so that the tape protrudes on the upper side of the glass; (e) applying an acid bath in the form of a cascade and/or curtain to the upper side of the glass, so that the acid is retained on this side of the glass within the area defined by the adhesive tape, and the acid is allowed to etch the glass for a given period of time ; (f) draining off excess acid ; (g) carrying out pre-cleaning and main cleaning steps using water and brushing, followed by drying using compressed air jets; and (h) carrying out a final visual inspection of the etched glass.
