PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus (a video camera or a digital still camera) that generates an image pickup signal with excellent characteristics having no saturation concerning objects with a wide illuminance range and that causes no shake even for a moving object. SOLUTION: The luminous flux emitted from an imaging lens 1 is separated into two, the one luminous flux (1st luminous flux) is attenuated, and two object images 2g1, 2g2 are formed on different areas on an image pickup face 2g of a CCD 4. By overlapping two image data with a luminance difference to synthesize a single image, new image data with an extended luminance dynamic range are obtained. Since the electric charge storage time and the electric charge storage start time of the two image data used for the synthesis can be made equal to each other, no shake takes place due to the synthesis even for a moving object. |
