TREATING OF ADDICTION AND ADDICTION-RELATED BEHAVIOR

The present invention provides a method for changing addiction-related behavior of a mammal suffering from addiction to abused drugs. The method includes administering to the mammal an effective amount of gamma vinylGABA (GVG) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, or an enantiomer or a racemic mixture thereof, wherein the effective amount is sufficient to diminish, ihhibit or eliminate behavior associated with craving or use of abused drugs.
