COMMUNICATION TYPE NAVIGATION SYSTEM, TRAFFIC INFORMATION DISTRIBUTING DEVICE AND TRAFFIC INFORMATION ACQUIRING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To evade execution of duplicate distribution of traffic information from a center to on-vehicle equipment via a free communication system and a paid communication system and to suppress increase of communication costs regarding a communication type navigation system, a traffic information distributing device and a traffic information acquiring method. SOLUTION: The navigation system having an FM receiver to acquire the traffic information by FM broadcast and a cellular telephone to acquire the traffic information by a mobile communication system is provided by providing a center to distribute the traffic information by using the free FM broadcast and the paid mobile communication system respectively. The navigation system is made to discriminate whether or not a free acquired area where the traffic information is already acquired by the FM broadcast is included in a desired area where distribution of the traffic information using the mobile communication system is desired. And when affirmative judgment is performed, distribution of the traffic information in areas except the free acquired area among the desire areas is requested to the center.
