PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader, a shading correction control method, a storage medium and a program, with which deterioration of an image after shading correction caused by dust or dirt sticking on a whiteboard can be avoided and the sampling time of shading correction data can be shortened. SOLUTION: It is controlled by a CPU 109 of the image reader whether image data can be stored in a shading correction memory 105 or not on the basis of the setting of a flag and the shading correction data are controlled to be sampled by moving the read position on the whiteboard only in the relevant area of the whiteboard on the basis of the designation of the whiteboard read position moving area through an operating part 111.
