PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device of which, a cold cathode is enabled to prolong the life. SOLUTION: A vacuum envelope of the image display device has a rear plate 1 to which, a plurality of cold cathodes 8 are mounted, and a front plate 2 arranged so as to face the rear plate, to which a positive electrode 7 and a fluorescent surface 6 are mounted. Deflection electrodes 20, 22, deflecting the electron beam emitted from the cold cathode by the electric field having a directional component other than the direction vertical to the rear plate, is arranged in the vicinity of respective cold cathodes.
