<p>A portable telephone or a small PDA apparatus held by one hand and operated with a finger of the same hand in which four or more keys are provided on the left side face generally perpendicular to the display face, three or more keys and a four-way joy stick are provided on the right side face and an on-hook/off-hook key is provided on the rear surface in order to input characters. When all the five fingers of one hand are used to operate thus arranged keys, characters can be inputted much more quickly than a case where characters are inputted with only the thumb. A portable telephone or a small PDA apparatus provided with a total of eighteen keys on the opposite sides is also provided. When keys are arranged in such a manner and all the ten fingers of both hands are used, characters can be inputted much more quickly than a case where characters are inputted with only the thumb.</p> |
