<p>The invention concerns an assembly comprising a mineral wool felt element (3) with compressed tubular shape and at least means for maintaining (5) said felt in compressed state. The maintaining means may be a wire enclosing the felt element on its cylindrical surface. The assembly can be used as housing for thermal insulation of pipes. The invention also concerns a method for producing annular elements, by punching, the starting material being a strip of coated fibrous material, such as moist mineral wool. A punching tool shaped at least like a perforating punch mounted on a press-plate is pressed through the strip then withdrawn again.</p> |
