A diagnostic agent for glycometabolic function comprising a glucose derivative of the formula (I): wherein R<1>, R<2>, R<3> and R<4> are the same or different and each represents hydrogen or acyl having 2 to 8 carbon atoms, with the proviso that at least one of R<1>, R<2>, R<3> and R<4> is acyl and R<5> represents X or -NHCOR<6>X wherein X is a radioisotope of halogen and R<6> is arylene or alkylene having 1 to 3 carbon atoms.
