In a mineral-mining plough device two ploughs 10, 11 are connected together by a tensioned spring 12 and have extension plates 13, 14 that are connected by coupling means of such a length as to ensure that as the machine is hauled by means 29 along a face the cutting edge of the leading plough is directed towards the face whilst the cutting edge of the rear plough is swung away from the face. The plates 13, 14, which when the device is in use, extend beneath a face conveyer have eyes 16, 17 that embrace tie bolts 39 securing the haulage chain 29 to lugs 37 on a plate 32 positioned between and in the same plane as the plates 13, 14. The plates 13, 14 and 32 have suitable means engaging in stabilizing and guiding channels formed on the front and rear sides of the conveyer. The play between the plates 13, 14 and 32 is such as to allow of the desired settings of the ploughs when the chain 39 is tensioned. A roof scarifying cutter means, which is mounted about a common hinge connecting two vertically-disposed links that are at the other ends connected to the ploughs, is biased upwards by the spring 12 interconnecting the ploughs. |
