PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure the identification of a groove trace without external influence and in spite of the prolonging of the time for exact alignment of a glass member during dividing by improving a method of marking for emphasizing the groove trace of the groove raised on glass or the glass member by a laser and further improving a method of parting the glass member to a plurality of glass part members. SOLUTION: This method comprises making the groove trace of the groove of the glass member raised by the laser conspicuous through making of the groove trace visually visible. The method is characterized in that a coating layer is at least partly formed on the groove trace.
