Vertically retractable landing gear for transport aircraft

The undercarriage consists of a number of legs (101) in a line parallel to the aircraft's median lengthwise axis, with a pair of wheels (R) on the lower end of each arm. Each leg comprises a tubular body (102) fixed to the aircraft structure, with a balance arm (103) pivoted to its lower end, and a shock absorber (106) pivoted between a branch (105) on the balance arm and a slider (110) inside the tubular body. The slider is connected to an actuating power cylinder (125) by links (120, 123) at the top of the tubular body so that it is moved axially between two positions corresponding to the raised and lowered undercarriage.
