The radio paging network has a coder and a transmitter supplying digitally coded signals to a number of portable radio receives, each having a reception circuit (1) and a decoder (41) controlling a display field (3) for the transmitted information. Graphical image information is divided at the coding end into a number of image points, each assigned a binary value of 0 or 1 and combined to provide a binary sequence for transmission to the portable radio receiver, at which the image can be displayed via the display field (3).
