PURPOSE: Provided is an oral dosage form for administering an active agent which has a soft core encased in a brittle coating. CONSTITUTION: An oral dosage form is characterized by comprising: (a) a soft core comprising an active agent particles having an average size of greater than about 50 mu m and (b) a brittle shell encasing the soft core, wherein the weight ratio of drug particles to shell being from 1.0:0.5 to 1.0:15.
