PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a processing apparatus for articles, capable of reliably mounting a lid to each article to which a lid should be mounted, being installed in a small area as a site to be occupied for setting it, and further reliably performing a directional control operation for the articles and the additional processing thereof. SOLUTION: The processing apparatus includes a lid mounting unit for mounting a lid to each of articles to be successively transferred along a transfer path, and a directional control unit for controlling the front direction of each of the articles in a directional control region in the transfer path, both the units being disposed in the order named relative to the direction in which the articles are transferred. An additional processing unit for applying an additional processing to the respective articles is disposed at a position located in the downstream of the directional control region with respect to the direction in which the articles are transferred.
