A rotary pump has a rotor 26 with a first end 28, a second end 30 opposite the first end 28, a central bore 32 and a plurality of cylinder bores 34 arranged about the central bore 32 and extending completely through the rotor 26 from the first end 28 to the second end 30. There is a plurality of pistons 40, each piston 40 being reciprocatingly received in one of the bores 34. A swash plate member 44 has a swash plate adjacent the second end 30 of the rotor 26 and a spigot 50 extending through the central bore 32 of the rotor 26. There is an end cap 24 connected to the first end 28 of the rotor 26. The end cap 24 closes off the bores 34 at the first end 28 of the rotor 26. A drive shaft 22 is rigidly connected to the end cap 24 and extends away from the rotor 26. There is a cover 86 having an aperture 92 rotably receiving the drive shaft 22. The cover 86 extends about the end cap 24 and the rotor 26 and is connected to the swash plate member 44. <IMAGE>
