PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a good slime control effect by surely preventing in-system corrosion by the accumulation of residual hydrogen peroxide by controlling the concentration of hydrogen peroxide in circulating cooling water in slime control treatment by charging hydrogen peroxide intermittently into the circulating cooling water. SOLUTION: In a method for treating a circulating cooling water system for controlling slime by charging hydrogen peroxide intermittently into the circulating cooling water, after the lapse of a prescribed time from the stop of the charge of hydrogen peroxide to the next charge of hydrogen peroxide, residual hydrogen peroxide in the circulating cooling water is decomposed and removed. The system has means 35 and 37 for charging hydrogen peroxide intermittently into the circulating cooling water, a hydrogen peroxide decomposition apparatus 40, and means 39 and V1 for supplying the circulating cooling water to the decomposition apparatus 40.
