FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to control and shutoff valves and fittings. Proposed method comes to setting extreme positions of shutoff member corresponding to normal opening and closing of gate. First reference point, beginning of shutoff member opening is found, and extreme positions of shutoff member are determined relative to reference point. Beginning of opening is revealed by appearance of hissing sound caused by flow of compressed gaseous medium. Flush position is set by shifting shutoff member through designed value. For instance, for gate through value of travel to one side and width of seat to other side. EFFECT: improved reliability of determination of flush position of slide gate shutoff member.
