1337802 Cured insulating coating FUJIKURA CABLE WORKS Ltd 22 June 1971 [25 June 1970] 29266/71 Heading B2E A cable conductor is coated with a curable or cross-linkable insulating compound containing rubber or plastics material, the whole is' passed upwardly through a heating medium comprising a column of a metal in a molten state, the temperature of the metal being such that the insulating compound is cured or crosslinked as it passes therethrough and the insulating material is cooled by passage through a pressurised aqueous cooling medium supported on the column. Specified insulating compounds are natural rubber, synthetic rubber, polyethylene, polybutadiene, polyvinyl chloride, and ethylene-propylene copolymer. Antioxidants, colouring agents and extending agents which, are curable by heat may also be included in the insulating material. |
