PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brush holder for a dynamo-electric machine, which suppresses the noise caused by vibration, by improving the attenuation properties to the vibration of a brush. SOLUTION: This brush holder is equipped with a brush retainer 9 which stores and retains the brush 10 sliding on a commutator 5, a brush retainer stand 8 which consists of a board part 8b on which to arrange and fix the brush retainer 9 and an outer wall part 8a positioned outside the brush retainer 9 and opposed to the outer face of the commutator 5, and a spring retainer 13 which is attached and fixed to the brush holder stand, together with the brush retainer 9 and is provided with a holding part for holding one end of a spring 11 positioned in the opening on the opposite side of the brush retainer from a commutator and interposed between it and the brush 10, and the brush retainer 9 is covered with a material 100 for attenuating the vibration transmitted from the brush 10.
