PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing method for an image forming apparatus set to obtain stable image quality over a long term by preventing an afterimage from occurring when consecutive developing is carried out without complicating a developing device and surely supplying electrified toner to a developing roll. SOLUTION: By generating an equipotential state where surface potential is made equal while rotating a developing roll 2 and a magnetic roll 1 in an image non-forming period and applying only AC bias, all the toner 5 on the roll 2 is not recovered only by a magnetic brush 10 but the replacement of the toner on the roll 2 and the toner in the brush 10 is accelerated by the AC bias, simultaneously, the change of the distribution of toner electrification amount at the replacement is nearly eliminated, whereby the afterimage is prevented from occurring when consecutive developing is carried out without complicating the developing device, the electrified toner is surely supplied to the developing roll, and the stable image quality is obtained over a long term. |
