PURPOSE: An apparatus for driving the current of a segment type electroluminescent display device by using a current mirror is provided to control the illumination by discretely or continuously controlling the amount of current applied to each of the pixels. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for driving the current of a segment type electroluminescent(EL) display device by using a current mirror includes an input register for being inputted by an image data of digital signal, a transfer latch for temporally storing the data to be displayed and for transferring the stored data, a pulse width modulation(PWM) generation block for PWM signals corresponding to the image data, a current adjustment circuit block for flowing a predetermined control current value to the column electrodes of the EL display device and a current supplying block for emitting a specific pixel of the EL display device to a predetermined intensity by applying a column control signal generated by the PWM signal and a line control current of the scan signal to the column electrodes and the line electrodes of the EL display device, respectively. The current adjustment circuit block includes a current mirror basic current generation block(410) for generating a basic current having a different value each other in response to at least one bit gain inputted from the current adjustment circuit block, an electrode current block(420) for flowing the current value equal to the basic current valued generated at the basic current generation block(410) to the at least one column electrode of the EL display device and a column selection input block(430) consisted of MOS switch for flowing the static current only to the selected specific column electrode.
