摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup device which is capable of assuring a desired writing output and realizing high-quality writing by decreasing the fluctuations in the output of a front photodetector element even when optical axis alignment occurs in high-output light emission of a semiconductor laser. SOLUTION: The optical pickup device of recording or reproducing information by condensing the light from a semiconductor laser 1L with an objective lens 4 and irradiating an optical recording medium 5 with this light is constituted to control the optical output of the semiconductor laser by detecting a portion of the light emitted from the semiconductor laser 1L by the photodetector means disposed on the outside of the semiconductor laser in recording or reproducing, in which the device has one or a plurality of the photodetectors 6-1 and 6-2 as the photodetecting means and these photodetectors 6-1 and 6-2 are arranged symmetrically with the optical axis of the exist light from the semiconductor laser 1L.
